Its hard to tell if …
Its hard to tell if he’s a bitter and twisted arsehole or if he’s an insecure person who doesn’t enjoy the spotlight, or perhaps both. One could say his charm is inversely proportional to his musical talent. At least we can enjoy his music!

  3. kmmarinelli says:

    so it was a …

Its a shame he’s almost entirely lost his belfast accent

  10. TheSanityInspector says:

    I saw him in …
I saw him in Atlanta in 1989. He seemed to have stage fright, kept dashing off stage. But, when he closed his eyes and dove into his “yarrgh”, he was golden.

  11. bpyrad says:

  14. shellyboy9 says:

    I await anyone with …
I await anyone with a cogent response to anything I or Van has said. Thanks Hempoilsoldier waving the flag of modernity and the continuing dumbing down of society.

    bullshit

  16. shellyboy9 says:

    This rare and …
This rare and almost undefinable talent cannot be taught, and rarely can it be cultivated. Whether you like these peoples music (Elvis, The Beatles etc). or not, think of Van’s accomplishment. As arrogant and antagonistic a character he portrays, people still love him! This takes a remarkable personality to do this.

  17. shellyboy9 says:

    Nevertheless, the …
Nevertheless, the truth remains as I said two weeks ago, popular music (from the White Stripes to the Foo Fighters to Lady GaGa) is all a sad retread man. Van is right when he says it has all been done, and to me it all sounds cowardly. Van however is not a musical genius. Those people are rare as hen’s teeth. Van’s genius is even rarer. It’s the genius of making people like you on a mass scale. This is a genius, admittedly on a higher level, shared by the Madonna’s, Michael Jackson’s etc.

  18. shellyboy9 says:

    Back in the 70′s I …
Back in the 70′s I had the pleasure/toil of seeing him 4x. Van remains the most antagonistic performer I’ve ever witnessed.. The only time I ever heard him do Caravan, Domino, Brown Eyed Girl, and Moondance during the same performance was at the ill-fated Randall’s Island concert where he was his most surly. It was a short performance and he continually complained about how he wasn’t getting paid. But he still performed. To me, that is really the essence of Van Morrison.

  19. FernAveEnt says:

    look at the guy’s …
look at the guy’s mic stand, he doesn’t want to be there…
    he has too. lololol

  20. freeberg43 says:

Have been a big fan …
Have been a big fan of Van for a long time and my biggest disappointment was seeing him live. After paying over $150.00/tickey we witnnessed the “bad” Van-cold, no rapport with audience and appeared non-interested. After seeing this interview it confirms that he is a miserable asshole!!!

  21. peter1886 says:

even though he is a …
even though he is a fellow Ulsterman, Van has always been a cunt. But he is a musical legend.

  22. leehollings says:

    I never had the …
I never had the pleasure, but he comes across a bit bitter and somewhat abrasive. That’s OK though, I’ll not let his coldness effect my opinion of his great musical abilities & accomplishments.

  23. TheSanityInspector says:

    Never heard him …
Never heard him speak before, thanks.
