“…one step ahead … “…one step ahead of relief..” I love that line. It really hit the mark for me in 78/79 when I used to listen to this track….also…”now that I’m out of touch with anger…” I used to wonder what it meant.
This is my … This is my nefarious weekend substance comedown song. I put it on when my beautiful woman gets off with me and goes to bed, leaving me alone with my music. Aaah!
Have only just … Have only just found out about this song via the new Nouvelle Vague lp, previously I only knew one song by Magazine, Shot by Both Sides.
If one of Tori Amos … If one of Tori Amos’ fingers falls asleep;dreams its a boy band; this is one of the songs it’ll play on a Wintry aethereal starry moonlit Spring nocturna Summers Fall eve. But you already knew that, right razorgirlz & gyz?

Perhaps bemusement. … Perhaps bemusement. I came away from one of his first gigs wondering why no rendition of Buzzcocks. Like a fine wine Magazine grows on you. Unlike a fine wine it took weeks rather than years. There’s been better bands – Uriah Heep, Glen Miller, The Osmonds.
Ask me one band that defines my life, I may say Girls Aloud but I’d really mean Magazine.
Going by how good … Going by how good this is, the applause should have been a LOT louder I think. I think it was subdued because the song was a bit too on the urbane side for a punky audience. Could be wrong of course, I’m not much of an applauder anyway. More of a waffler as you can tell.
