How do I get stores/designers to feature their goods in my magazine, do I buy the goods?

A start up magazine…When you ask a store or designer to feature their goods in your magazine, are these goods sent to mag for free or are they purchased by the magazine. It is free advertisement for the designer, so they should donate the goods, right? Are their contracts/agreements that must be signed? Any advice for a start up magazine….lifestyle mini mag, Fashion entertainment, etc.

You would probably benefit from a major in Marketing, or Fashion Merch. But since you obviously don’t you have to use your negotiation skills. If you let them know that you want to feature their merchendise in your magazine, you would need to present to them your market, meaning how many readers you have. If they think it is porfitable to be featured in your mag, they will send you samples. Unless your mag is big time you won’t get more than a few in sample size (size 0).

    that would be giving away ad space and they wouldn’t give you anything…. they would advertise and put up a ph or address or website….you could sell ad space you know

    You could go to there store and ask if you could advertise them but they might want you to pay them to do it unless they pay you to advertise there store.But it also cappends how many people read your magazine..And i have a question for you if thats ok. How did you start your own magazine? I want to start my own magazine but I dont know how and im only 14…..
