Any advice for a start-up magazine publisher?

Salut,

I’m looking to start up a monthly fashion & lifestyle magazine. It will mainly serve for advertising purposes; a quasi-client guide zine with a few fashion & lifestyle articles. Just hoping to get advice from any out there with prior experience about the dos and don’ts of this enterprise. Ciao!

Instead of investing in print costs, invest in direct mailing. You and your advertisers are better off if instead of having 100k copies with undetermined circulation, you have 10k copies with monitored circulation. You want specific and strategic demographics . . . advertisers love this (worked in publishing).
