I aspire to be an editor-in-chief of a top fashion magazine. What do I have to major in?
I would say any B.A or B.S that focuses on liberal arts. You will want strong writing and communication skills, but also savvy business skills. Not to mention, you’ll need some knowledge about the fashion industry. A lot of students mistakenly think you always need a specific degree to get a certain job; most employers are looking for people who can communicate effectively and work well in groups. Often times, your specific degree doesn’t matter unless you are in an extremely specialized field, such as engineering.
The best thing you can do is go to college, study something you enjoy, get good grades, and participate in as many internships related to your field as possible. Employers look for great practical experience as well as brains.
Good luck!
