How many pages is Elle Magazine?

January 30, 2010 - 11:43 pm 1 Comment

I want to subscribe, but if it is like a 50page magazine then I won’t.
Can someone please tell me how many pages thick it is please?
Is it 200 pages a magazine? :) thanx

Really? The number of pages will vary each month — but probably not by too much. February is 216 pages.

Does anyone collect articles from parenting magazines?

January 30, 2010 - 11:43 pm 2 Comments

I subscribe to Parents magazine and receive few other ones free in the mail. Often they have good articles with advice I think I could use in the future (my baby is only 7 months old now), but I always end up putting the magazine away and forget about it. I have tons of them and I thought of going through them and clipping out my favorite articles. Then, I guess I could organize them by topic. Is anyone doing this? Any tips on a good way to organize these?
Thanks!

Get a photo album. The ones that you have to peel away the clear plastic cover to place your photos. Get one with a white background so that you can write or print out titles/categories. Then you can put it away on your book shelf in a nice neat little book instead of tons of other magazines. It was my granny’s idea. She does it for her recipes. I planned on doing it for both my recipes and my magazines. I do the same thing. I have tons of magazines in my closet, things I even saved before I was pregnant. I just never got around to looking at them and when I do I can’t figure out which one the article was in.

are the words "pee" , "piss" and "piss off" publishable in a lifestyle magazine article?

January 30, 2010 - 11:43 pm 4 Comments

"pee" is a verb for urinate and is a euphemism for "piss". It means to pass water. "Piss" or "piss off" means to make angry and is vulgar slang..If it is a lifestyle magazine I don’t see any legal reason not to publish them, but I would object on the grounds of what attitudes and values you want to establish. They are not acceptable in polite society.

what do i wear in a fashion magazine office?

January 30, 2010 - 11:42 pm 4 Comments

im going for work experience next week to a fashion magazine, im sixteen and i was just wondering what is hould wear. their dress code is smart causual, and i thought i would just wear a high waisted skirt, a pretty top and boots. is that appropriate?

My goodness lucky you i’m extremely jealous! I think you should read the magazine see what designers they are covering and perhaps wear some of their looks to show you can be high fashion and you know what they’re doing there. I think a high waisted black skirt black stockings black heels, a white frilly blouse (lots of frills they are extremely chic) and a white cashmere/wool jacket of some sort. Just a small jacket with big buttons no need for a large trench coat. Just look at what others are wearing and try and improve upon them! Remember to read the magazine and what trends they are following. Black, white and cream/beige are chic and will work perfectly and please no boots they are the worst thing that a woman can wear! Hope this helps

What are the recommended materials for creating a realistic magazine?

January 30, 2010 - 11:42 pm 1 Comment

I have the dreaded Odysseus project, in which I have to write a letter per book expressing the themes, six interactives, and a good-looking form of a book to put everything in. I was thinking of making it be a magazine, so I was wondering what some cheap, but realisitic materials to create it. I would like it to look like a magazine.

Also, can someone tell me how a magazine is binded together because I believe that is a key component.

All small magazines (Time, Newsweek) are saddle stitched with wire stables through the folded middle of the double pages, which is almost impossible to do without the special equipment, so the best alternative would be to punch several small holes and either literally stitch with heavy sewing thread or by putting light steel wire, bending the ends flat and adding some glue.
Magazines have that feel because they use a thin clay coated glossy paper which may be available at speciallty paper supply places that sell to printer shops.

How can I cancel my 17 magazine subscription?

January 30, 2010 - 11:42 pm 1 Comment

I Didn’t mean to order ten magazines from seventeen because I already have a two year subscription. I was entering the eyeliner sweepstakes and when it said would you like a years sub to 17 and I checked no, but when I clicked yes it said " thank you we will now bill you for ten magazines" Is there any way I can cancel that without canceling my previous subscription? I have not entered any info where they could possibly get a credit card or payment form either.

You should be safe if you did not give them your credit card number but call the 17 magazine number and tell them the mishap.

Where do you get magazine subscriptions in The Sims 2 Free Time?

January 30, 2010 - 11:42 pm 1 Comment

My sim has max enthusiasm and all that – do they have to be really good at the hobby to get the magazine? I’ve looked on the phone and don’t know where to look. Thanks.

it should be in the phone under services, newspaper or magazine? It’s be so long since I actually subscribed to one! You can get a magazine at level 3 or 4 enthusiasm.

Does anyone have a good idea on what to do with cooking magazines?

January 30, 2010 - 11:42 pm 7 Comments

I have 8+ years of Taste of Home, Country Woman and other magazines that all have recipes. I love cooking magazines, but I don’t know what to do with them. I can’t seem to bear throwing them out even tho I know the chances of me looking at them again are basically nill. Each magazine has too many recipes to cut them out and then it would just be a pile of recipes. What have others done with their old magazines?

Get rid of them … they are only cluttering your home. You can find great recipes on line from so many sites. Perhaps look into the magazine and see if they have a website and you can find all their recipes on line. Donate the magazines to your local library, high school or community centre.
